<\/p>\nWeeks after a jolly elephant was sighted on the farm of a Saki farmer, Adesope Habeeb Olamide, experts from the University of Ibadan had swung into action following the concerns of residents for the animal, which could serve tourism purposes.<\/p>\n
Some days ago, some other indigenes across Oyo and Kwara had also seen peaceful elephant trotting away.<\/p>\n

On Feb 5, Adesope recounted on social media how he was contacted by some staff of National Park Service, with whom he agreed to lead towards the direction of the said Elephant, which was later traced to a community called Gobo in kwara state.<\/p>\n
Recall Adesope whose farm site shares boundary with Benin and Kwara, had said the migrating elephant was enroute Benin Republic.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that earlier this week, a delegation was sent by the Chairman of Saki West Local Government, the host community and the department of Zoology, University of Ibadan to capture the animal in order to convey it to the zoo, after plans had been concluded.<\/p>\n
Adesope in a Facebook post yesterday said he assisted with pulling efforts which yielded the successful capture of the elephant.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the elephant died in the custody of the experts on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Adesope sadly wrote: \u201cCould the elephant have been killed because of the ivory tusk? What a loss and all my effort to protect the helpless and harmless creature has been rendered futile.<\/p>\n
