Ibadan Northwest\/Southwest Federal Constituency lawmaker, Hon Dhikirulahi Adedeji Olajide, has described the World Bank\u2019s $500 million facility to Nigeria as a \u201cgame-changer\u201d for the country\u2019s digital economy.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Monday, Olajide, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, said the facility would help to accelerate the development of Nigeria\u2019s digital economy and create jobs for millions of Nigerians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a major boost for our digital economy and it will help us to leapfrog into the 21st century,\u201d Olajide said. \u201cThe facility will be used to support the development of digital infrastructure, skills training, and innovation in the country\u2019s digital sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the facility would also help to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas of the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very important issue, as it will ensure that everyone in Nigeria has access to the benefits of the digital economy,\u201d Olajide said.<\/p>\n
He commended the Federal Government for securing the facility and urged them to ensure that it is used effectively.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a great opportunity for Nigeria to become a digital leader in Africa. I urge the government to seize this opportunity and make the most of it,\u201d Olajide said.<\/p>\n
The statement quoted Olajide as saying: \u201cI am particularly excited about the facility\u2019s focus on digital infrastructure, skills training, and innovation. These are the key areas that need to be addressed if we are to truly transform our digital economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
