Akeem Aponmade, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, has deacribed Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s administration as one worthy of emulation, saying he would be re-elected into office in 2023 as a result of the massive support he has garnered from large number of voters, who do not belong to any political party.
Aponmade, who made this known on Friday during an interview on the sidelines of his declaration to contest the Lagelu/Akinyele seat at the House of Representatives in 2023, said the seven-year reign of the All Progressives Congress-led by President Muhammadu Buhari has been a failure in every aspect.
He said the economy had become bad while security and other aspects had also suffered greatly since the APC assumed power in 2015.
According to him, in contrast to the alleged unprecedented bad governance of the APC in the country, was the Makinde administration, which he said had affected lives positively and has repositioned Oyo state for a glorious future.
In his words, “It is indisputable that our country, Nigeria, is going through very difficult times at the moment. In the seven years of governance by the All Progressives Congress at the national level, this country has witnessed monumental and calamitous failure in every area of the lives of the Nigerian people, the result of which has seriously endangered the future of Nigeria and its citizens.
“It is heart-warming and comforting that in stark contrast to the colossal failure of President Muhammadu Buhari at the centre, the Almighty God gave our pacesetter state a kind, innovative, humane, development-oriented, honest, transparent and forward-looking governor.
“A governor, who has deftly steered the ship of Oyo state in the desired direction. His Excellency, ‘Seyi Makinde, by God’s grace, the Governor of Oyo state, has redefined what good governance is all about”, he added.
Aponmade asserted that Makinde had improved on the internally generated revenue of the state and had repositioned the economy to live up to its motto as the pacesetters state.
He said the people of the state were aware of the happenings at the federal level and the improved situation in Oyo state, saying they would repay the governor by voting for him in 2023.
