Armed robbers attack bullion van in Ibadan

Several persons were injured after a bullion van was attacked in the Idi-Ape area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The aftermath of the robbery incident, which took place on Thursday, was filmed by several witnesses.

The armed robbers were said to have waylaid the van after which they released gunshots sporadically.

The incident forced several motorists to abandon their vehicles and run for safety.

The once-busy street was immediately vacated as the gunshots continued.

Video footage showed that a policeman attached to the van and two other civilians were shot during the attack.

The bullion van was said to have set out from a new generation bank along Testing Ground in Iwo-Road.

Adewale Osifeso, Oyo police public relations officer, was not available to comment when journalists reached out to him.

A police source, who preferred to be anonymous, told the Journalists that Ngozi Onadeki, the commissioner of police in the state, has visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation
