Embarking on a Spiritual Journey: Hon. Dhikirulahi Adedeji Stanley Olajide’s Ziyarat in Madinah

In anticipation of the upcoming 2023 hajj rites, Hon. Dhikirulahi Adedeji Stanley Olajide, the esteemed representative of Ibadan North West/Southwest, commenced his spiritual journey with a visit to significant sites in Madinah. Setting foot in Saudi Arabia through the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the two-term Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker, fondly known as Odidiomo, embraced the preparations for the hajj rites.

Among the places of immense importance that adorned his itinerary was the revered Masjid Quba, renowned as the first mosque in the history of Islam. Immersed in the aura of sacredness, Hon. Dhikirulahi Adedeji Stanley Olajide paid his respects at this iconic site before undertaking the obligatory rites.

Delving into the historical significance of the mosque, it is reminiscent of Prophet Muhammad’s stay in Quba for a period of fourteen days. During this time, he earnestly prayed qaṣr (short prayers) while awaiting the arrival of Sayidina Ali in Medina. The latter, selflessly ensuring the safety of Prophet Muhammad, had remained in Mecca and slept in his bed as a decoy.

Performing Wuḍūʾ (ablution) within the confines of one’s home, followed by offering two optional prayers at the Quba Mosque, is considered equivalent to undertaking a lesser hajj. Prophet Muhammad himself encouraged others to partake in this practice, stating, “Whoever makes ablutions at home and then goes and prays in the Mosque of Quba, he will have a reward like that of an Umrah.”

Initially situated six kilometers away from Madinah, the Quba Mosque resided in the village of Quba before Madinah expanded to encompass this historic site.

As Hon. Dhikirulahi Adedeji Stanley Olajide embarks on this remarkable spiritual journey, his ziyarat in Madinah serves as a testament to his devotion and dedication. With each step, he embraces the essence of the hajj rites, weaving his way through the tapestry of Islamic heritage and embodying the spirit of unity and reverence.

May his pilgrimage be filled with enlightenment, tranquility, and spiritual fulfillment, as he prepares himself for the sacred hajj rituals that lie ahead.
