Hon. Adedeji Olajide Mourns  Ibadan ‘White Chief’, Raymond Zard

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide (Odidiomo) has described as a personal loss, the death of Ibadan’s foremost Businessman and Industrialist, Chief (Dr.) Raymond Zard.

Popularly known as “Ray of Hope”, Chief (Dr.) Raymond Zard, the Babalaje of Ibadanland and a great philanthropist passed away at the age of 85.

In a condolence message made available to newsmen by Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Olajide, the federal lawmaker described Chief Zard as a mentor, a guardian and a true patriot who left an indelible mark on Ibadan and its people.

According to the Hon. Olajide, “Papa Raymond Zard was more than a friend; he was a shining example of leadership and compassion.

“His impact on Ibadan and its people will never be forgotten,” he said.

Speaking further, Odidiomo described Chief Zard as a prominent figure in Ibadan, known for his tireless efforts in promoting education, healthcare and social welfare.

“He founded the Ray of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that provided scholarships, built hospitals, and supported vulnerable communities,” the statement continued.

“Papa as successful entrepreneur, investing in various sectors, including real estate, agriculture, and manufacturing is forever evergreen and worthy of mention.

“His close friendship and business relationship with my late father, Alhaji Lateef Tokunbo Olajide, was a testament of his strong commitment to collaborative development.

“As his representative at the National assembly, having lived his entire life and having his businesses along across North West and Ibadan South West Federal Constituency and also as proud son of Ibadanland, I mourn the loss of this great leader and the entire Olajide family extend our condolences to the Zard family, the people of Ibadan, family, friends and well wishers across the globe.

“Chief (Dr.) Raymond Zard’s legacy will continue to inspire generations to come”, the statement concluded.
