Senator Kola Balogun has called on all stakeholders to pay more attention to the development of sustainable educational system, noting that no country can prosper without a solid educational sector.
He said this, on Tuesday, while speaking at a Senate public hearing on a Bill for an independent commission to manage unity schools across the country.
The senator, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, in a statement by his media adviser, Mr Dapo Falade, said all nations of the world are in need of human development.
He said Nigeria is potentially a great country, adding that all that was needed was to pay more attention to those sectors that can facilitate its progress, particularly the education sector.
Senator Balogun commended the ninth Senate for engaging in such an activity which he said was geared towards ensuring that Nigeria has the best in terms of education.
“All countries are in need of human development. Indeed, no Nation could prosper; no Nation can be great unless the education sector is solid and it is forward-looking.
“So, when the ninth Senate is engaged in this kind of activity to ensure that Nigeria has the best in terms of education, I think it deserves our applause,” he said.
Senator Balogun, who is the vice chairman, Senate Committee on Youths Sports and Development, urged participants at the public hearing to make meaningful contributions at the session.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are looking forward to your active participation at this session so that, together, we can move our dear country forward.
“As you all know, Nigeria is a great country; it is potentially a great nation. But we just need to put some things together to ensure that we pay serious attention to those sectors that can make us to make progress, particularly the educational sector,” Senator Balogun added.
