Odidi Omo mourns Ibadan-born Nigerian flag designer, Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi.

Rep Adedeji Stanley Olajide (Odidi Omo) has expressed its condolences on the death of Ibadan-born Nigerian flag designer Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi.

Akinkunmi, who was 98, died on Tuesday, was a teacher and an artist who designed the Nigerian flag in 1959, when Nigeria was preparing to gain independence from the United Kingdom.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi,” Olajide said. “He was a true patriot and a national hero. His work on the Nigerian flag is a lasting symbol of the country’s independence and unity.”
