The Chairman of the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has announced Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke, as the candidate of the party in the July 16 gubernatorial election.
He said Ademola Adeleke polled 1,887 votes to pick the ticket of the party for the governorship poll.
Presenting the PDP Certificate of Return to Adeleke, Ewhrudjakpo noted that 1,916 delegates were accredited, while 24 invalid votes were recorded.
Other aspirants polled the following votes: Dele Adeleke, 1; Dotun Babayemi, 0; Akin Ogunbiyi, 0; Fatai Akinbade, 0 and Sanya Omirin, 4.
Recall that six candidates were cleared for PDP primary while four of them withdrew on Monday, a few hours to the exercise leaving Senator Adeleke and Dotun Babayemi.
The 2018 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Adeleke had pitched his tent with the acting chairman of the party in the state while other aspirants who withdrew aligned with former chairman Soji Adagunodo.
Other aspirants who withdrew from the primary of the party including the nephew of Senator Ademola Adeleke – Deji Adeleke declared support for Babayemi excluding Omirin who declared support for the senator.
Ewhrudjakpo, however, urged all other aspirants to join hands with Senator Adeleke to win the July 16 gubernatorial election in the state.
“The king is here and the crown is here. This is the authentic congress and any other one conducted in any other place will not be recognised,” he said.
