In a heartfelt display of solidarity, Rep Adedeji Stanley Olajide visited the site of the Bodija explosion earlier today to extend his sympathy and provide comfort to those affected by the tragic incident on January 17, 2024. His presence was a source of solace as he engaged with families who had suffered losses and individuals whose homes and livelihoods were impacted. Witnessing their resilience amidst adversity was truly inspiring, and he conveyed his unwavering support and commitment to fostering a safer environment in Oyo State.
Expressing his condolences, Rep Adedeji Stanley Olajide commended the proactive efforts of the Oyo State government, particularly acknowledging the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde. The immediate relief and support provided, including accommodations for affected families and the deployment of security operatives to prevent looting, have contributed to a peaceful atmosphere in the area. He emphasized the need to emulate such exemplary leadership and extended his sympathies to the entire population of Oyo State.
However, recognizing that collective responsibility is essential, Rep Adedeji Stanley Olajide emphasized the importance of working together to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He strongly advocated for the urgent establishment of a state policing system in Oyo State, emphasizing that a decentralized police force, closely connected to the communities it serves, can be more responsive and effective in averting and managing unfortunate incidents.
Reiterating his call for the prompt implementation of a state policing system in Oyo State, complemented by other proactive measures, Rep Adedeji Stanley Olajide emphasized the need to build a more secure and peaceful environment for all citizens. In addition to his visit to the explosion site, he also expressed sympathy to Senator Hóséà Ayoola Agboola (Halleluyah), an esteemed member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, whose property was severely affected by the explosion.
Assuring the public of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s active support for the Oyo State Government, Rep Adedeji Stanley Olajide emphasized the ongoing efforts to rebuild affected properties and assist families who suffered losses.
