Udu Local Government Area of Delta State was agog on Monday, as the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in the state empowered eighty (80) persons inwards 1-4 with cash package of twenty-five (25) thousand naira each to support their businesses and other entrepreneurial enterprises.
Speaking at the various wards, the Chairman of the PDP in Udu, Hon. David Siloko revealed that the empowerment was designed in line with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s vision of ‘Stronger Delta Agenda’ to empower and engage Deltans, particularly PDP faithfuls who have worked and have been supporting the party during and after elections.
He commended the Delta State Political Appointees from Udu LGA including Hon. Chief Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor, Member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Jite Brown JP, Hon. Chief Henry Sakpra Commissioner for Special Project Monitoring, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, DESOPADEC Commissioner and others for their monthly contributions which made the empowerment possible. He called on other Appointees who are yet to pay to do the needful in order for the program to get to other wards in phase 2 of the program.
On his part, the Chairman of the empowerment Committee, Hon. Raymond Edijala advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the cash empowerment given to them for sustainable business entrepreneurship because, according to him, the importance of self reliance cannot be overemphasized.
The beneficiaries and the Party Chairmen of wards 1- 4 lauded the Hon. David Siloko-led administration of the party for prioritizing the welfare of party faithful. They confessed that Hon. Silko’s leadership prowess will move the party to greater heights.
In the same vein the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Jite Brown, during the event, complimented the empowerment Committee by empowering 21 persons in the 4 wards who visited as members representing Udu Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly Hon. Chief Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor also appreciated members of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in the 4 wards financially for their supports which led to his emergence in the 2019 general elections.
