Landmark Victory: Court of Appeal Upholds Adedeji Stanley Olajide’s Election Triumph

In a resounding victory, the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, has upheld the triumph of Adedeji Stanley Olajide Odidi-Omo, a distinguished member of the House of Representatives who represents the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency in Oyo State.

This affirmation follows the earlier judgment by the tribunal in August, which recognized Stanley Olajide Odidi-Omo as the legitimate winner of the election. The Chairman of the Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Sobere Biambo, delivered the lead judgment, backed by Justices Z.A. Zadat and Shaffau Lada Yusuff, and dismissed Fijabi’s petition, imposing a cost of N1 million on each of the respondents.

Unsatisfied with the tribunal’s decision, the APC candidate, Saheed Akinade Fijabi, sought recourse at the Appellate court in an attempt to overturn the tribunal’s ruling. However, the Court of Appeal resolutely dismissed the appeals, finding them to lack merit.

Stanley Olajide, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, emerged victorious in the February 25th election by securing a significant win over Fijabi and other contenders.

In his heartfelt reaction to the judgment, Stanley Olajide expressed his gratitude to all who supported him throughout the journey. He acknowledged the role of the Almighty Allah, thanked the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, party leaders, constituents, and his family. He also appreciated the Judiciary for its unbiased judgment.

This victory has further strengthened Stanley Olajide’s determination to serve the people with dedication, ensuring that they reap the best dividends of democracy. The appeal court’s decision vindicates the choice and voice of the people in the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency.
