Odidiomo Appoints Seun Fakorede as Director of Youth Mobilisation

Former Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports takes up campaign role as Odidiomo Campaign Organisation strengthens its youth mobilisation structure ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.

The Odidiomo Campaign Organisation has appointed Hon. Seun Fakorede, former Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, as its Director of Youth Mobilisation.

The appointment marks another step in the organisation of the senatorial campaign of Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, as preparations continue towards the 2027 election in Oyo South Senatorial District.

Presenting the letter of appointment, Odidiomo described Fakorede as a respected youth mobiliser whose experience and understanding of the youth constituency make him suited for the responsibility.

According to Odidiomo, the decision followed earlier conversations with Fakorede on the assignment and the expectations attached to the role.

“I’ve studied him from far, from near. I look at the cap of who is going to run our youth mobilisation. He fits his head very well.”

Odidiomo said the campaign would face its share of challenges but expressed confidence in Fakorede’s ability to take on the responsibility.

“We are going to cross a lot of rivers, we’re going to cross a lot of bridges. But I’m sure with the pedigree you have, with the sound mind you have, there is no reservation in my mind that you can get this assignment done.”

He subsequently presented Fakorede with his appointment letter as Director of Youth Mobilisation, Odidiomo Campaign Organisation.

Fakorede: “I thought about the responsibility”

In his response, Fakorede said he was humbled by the confidence placed in him and explained that he took time to consider the responsibility before accepting the appointment.

He said his decision was informed by the need to carefully consider whether he could deliver on the expectations attached to the role while maintaining the reputation and integrity he had built over the years.

“Before I take up a responsibility, I always like to look at the pros and cons.”

Fakorede said that after considering the assignment, he decided to take it on, expressing his commitment to the task ahead.

A relationship built around youth development

Fakorede also spoke about his longstanding relationship with Odidiomo and the latter’s involvement in youth-related initiatives in Oyo State.

He noted that his experience within the youth and sports ecosystem spans seven years — four years as Commissioner for Youth and Sports and his current role as Executive Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports.

Against that background, Fakorede said he had personally seen Odidiomo’s support for young people and youth-focused projects over the years.

“For these seven years, Most Distinguished has been one of the pillars of support to young people in Oyo State.”

He also stressed that, in his view, Odidiomo’s support for young people did not begin with his current political aspiration.

“All the things he’s doing today, he didn’t just start doing them because he wanted to be governor, or now running for the Senate. He has been doing it out of his goodwill and the love for the good people of Oyo State.”

“This is for us”

Fakorede described his new role as an opportunity to represent the interests of young people, particularly those within Oyo South Senatorial District.

“On behalf of the young people in Oyo State, and particularly the young people in Oyo South Senatorial District, this is for us.”

He pledged to give the assignment the commitment required and expressed confidence that the campaign could deliver on its objectives.

The appointment adds another layer to the organisational structure of the Odidiomo Campaign Organisation as the campaign continues its preparations for the 2027 senatorial contest.

For Fakorede, the assignment now moves from conversation to responsibility: organising and mobilising the youth constituency for the campaign ahead.
