Makinde Signals Continuity, Mentions Odidi Omo Among Leaders Expected to Shape Oyo’s Next Government

Governor Seyi Makinde has reiterated his commitment to continuity, sustainability, and inclusive leadership during the official unveiling of the Oyo @50 Golden Jubilee logo and countdown ceremony, marking the commencement of activities for Oyo State’s 50th anniversary.

The event, held at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan, brought together political leaders, traditional authorities, and key stakeholders to reflect on the state’s journey since its creation in 1976 and to outline a vision for the years ahead.

While speaking on the significance of the milestone, the Governor emphasised the importance of preparing the next generation of leaders to sustain progress beyond the current administration. In that context, he made reference to several individuals he described as young, agile, and vibrant, who are already contributing meaningfully and are expected to play critical roles in the next phase of Oyo State’s governance. Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide (Odidi Omo) was among those mentioned.

The Governor stressed that although he may make recommendations based on capacity and performance, leadership choices ultimately remain the prerogative of the people of Oyo State. According to him, continuity is achieved not through imposition, but through deliberate preparation and collective responsibility.

Observers note that the Governor’s remarks, delivered during a landmark state event, underline a broader message of stability and forward planning as Oyo State looks beyond its first fifty years.
