A Worthy Son of the Soil: Olubadan to Install Rep. Adedeji Olajide and Wife as Odidiomo and Yeye Odidiomo of Ibadanland

As Ibadan prepares for a historic royal celebration, all roads will lead to the Oke-Aremo palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, July 11, 2025, where Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide and his wife, Alhaja Adenike Shakirat Olajide, will be officially conferred with the honorary chieftaincy titles of Odidiomo and Yeye Odidiomo of Ibadanland.

The conferment, which is part of the Olubadan’s 90th birthday and first coronation anniversary festivities, will take place at 11:00 AM within the palace grounds and is expected to attract dignitaries from across Nigeria’s political, traditional, and religious institutions.

The revered titles, conferred by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Olalere Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, recognize Hon. Olajide’s deep roots, public service, and his visible contributions to the development and progress of Ibadanland.

Rt. Hon. Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, is a second-term federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency. His tenure has been marked by legislative advocacy, digital empowerment programs, youth-focused initiatives, and grassroots development — qualities that have made him a standout representative of Ibadan people both at home and nationally.

In a message shared ahead of the conferment, Hon. Olajide expressed his gratitude for the honour and called on well-wishers to join in the celebration:

“With gratitude to Almighty Allah, I humbly request the pleasure of your esteemed presence at this momentous event. Your presence will be a great honour and deeply appreciated as we celebrate with our family, friends, and the good people of Ibadan.”

The event symbolizes more than a personal milestone — it is a reaffirmation of cultural heritage, public service, and the age-old ties between Ibadan’s royal institution and its most impactful sons and daughters.
