Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, a member of the Planning and Venue Committee for the forthcoming PDP National Convention, has expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his leadership and commitment to the success of the party in the Southwest and across Nigeria.
Speaking during a preliminary inspection of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan*, Hon. Olajide thanked Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve in the committee tasked with delivering a world-class convention for the party. He also acknowledged the presence of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal, who joined the inspection tour.
According to Hon. Olajide, the visit was a preliminary walkthrough aimed at assessing the readiness of the venue ahead of the main convention preparations. “The reason we are here today is to do preliminary work,” he explained. “Our committee consists of about 220 members, and the work has not fully started. Since we are in the State, we decided to get a quick overview of what the stadium looks like, so that when our committee members arrive, we can take them through a complete walkthrough of the facility.”
He emphasized that the team was determined to deliver on its mandate within the limited time frame available. “We have less than three weeks left before the convention, so we are optimistic that we will meet the timeline. We have examined the state of the turf, seating arrangements, accreditation areas, and medical stations — ensuring that all necessary requirements are met ahead of time,” he said.
Hon. Olajide commended the quality of the facility, describing the Lekan Salami Stadium as “a world-class edifice capable of hosting events of international standard.” He added, “This is a wonderful facility. I am impressed. Kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde — this is a world-class stadium that will accommodate the convention excellently. We are very pleased with what we have seen so far.”
The PDP National Convention is expected to attract key party leaders and delegates from across the country, as preparations intensify to ensure a successful and well-coordinated event.
