The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is taking decisive steps to put its house back in order ahead of the 2027 general elections. At yesterday’s NEC meeting in Abuja, landmark resolutions were reached — confirming Umar Damagum as National Chairman, zoning the presidential ticket to the South, and reaffirming Ibadan as the venue for the November convention.
Hon. Olajide Stanley Adedeji, popularly known as Odidi Omo, who also serves on the Main Committee of the 2025 Elective National Convention of the PDP and is a member of the crucial Zoning Committee, has applauded Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his strategic role in ensuring these outcomes.
Odidi Omo described Makinde as “the steady hand guiding the PDP towards unity and preparedness.”
According to Odidi Omo, the PDP’s ability to resolve leadership questions and chart a clear path forward was no accident. Governor Makinde’s influence and commitment to party unity were crucial in preventing further division. “Makinde has proven time and again that he is not just a regional leader but a national stabilizer whose decisions carry weight,” he said.
The NEC’s decision to zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the South has already been hailed by analysts as a move that could restore balance and confidence within the party. With the Ibadan convention now officially on the horizon, Odidi Omo noted that the PDP is showing Nigerians it is serious about regaining national relevance.
“This is more than housekeeping — it is the beginning of a comeback. And leaders like Makinde are making sure the PDP is not just ready, but positioned for victory,” he added.
For Odidi Omo, yesterday’s NEC meeting was more than an administrative gathering. It was a signal that the PDP, once shaken by internal disputes, is regaining focus. He praised Makinde’s governance in Oyo State as a model of inclusiveness and accountability that the party can replicate nationally.
“Governor Makinde embodies the kind of leadership Nigerians are asking for: firm, fair, and forward-looking. If the PDP stays the course, the road to 2027 will not just be a race — it will be a real opportunity for renewal,” he concluded
