OdidiOmo Mobilizes Support for Folajimi ‘Don’ in Bad

As political momentum builds toward the August 16 by-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat, a key endorsement has emerged from Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, popularly known as “OdidiOmo.” The two-term lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency has thrown his full support behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, also known as “Don.”

OdidiOmo, who also chairs the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, described Oyekunle as a seasoned and dynamic politician with the right experience and capacity to provide effective representation. This endorsement was made public through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tolu Mustapha.

At a recent strategic stakeholders’ meeting, Olajide presented campaign materials which he personally donated to support the by-election effort. Addressing party members and constituents, he emphasized the importance of backing Oyekunle, noting that maintaining purposeful representation in the constituency is essential for continuity and development.

“Hon. Don is tested and trusted,” Olajide said. “He’s served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and most recently as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde. He understands governance, knows the terrain, and aligns fully with Governor Makinde’s vision for sustainable development. We must unite behind him.”

Olajide also highlighted the importance of synergy between Ibadan’s federal constituencies, stressing that Oyekunle’s victory would not only consolidate the PDP’s dominance in the region but also strengthen Oyo State’s voice in the National Assembly.

He paid tribute to the late Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), whose untimely passing in July 2024 left the Ibadan North seat vacant. OdidiOmo noted that the former representative served with commitment and integrity, and that it is crucial for his successor to carry on with the same spirit of quality representation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the by-election for August 16, 2025. As the date approaches, all eyes are on Ibadan North, with political parties ramping up their campaigns to secure the pivotal seat.
