In a royal nod to his unwavering service and strong ancestral ties to Ibadanland, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, the lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency, has been named as the next recipient of a prestigious chieftaincy title by the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
According to an official letter dated June 27, 2025, and issued from the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), has chosen to honour Hon. Olajide with the revered title of “Odidiomo of Ibadanland.”
The recognition, captured in a letter titled “Notification and Offer of Honorary Chieftaincy Title,” praises Odidiomo’s “valuable contribution to the development and progress of Ibadanland” and his consistent advocacy for the city’s interest both at home and on national platforms.
The honour, many have described as long overdue, is also being extended to his wife, Alhaja Adenike Shakirat Olajide, who will be installed as “Yeye Odidiomo of Ibadanland,” in acknowledgment of their joint service and goodwill towards the city.
The double installation will form part of a historic celebration — the 90th birthday and first coronation anniversary of the Olubadan — scheduled between July 4th and 13th, 2025, at the New Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.
Hon. Olajide, who currently chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Digital, ICT and Cybersecurity, is widely admired across Oyo State for his people-first approach to representation, youth empowerment efforts, grassroots initiatives, and digital transformation agenda. From solar-powered streetlights to artisan digital training, Odidiomo has consistently delivered, earning him deep respect not just as a politician, but as a proud son of Ibadan.
